How can they say this stuff with a straight face… NASA edition

On NPR, a sound clip from the Head of NASA, Michael Griffin, shows his (lack of) qualifications for heading up that agency. Of course, being a walking, talking, bull-shit spewing, condescending arse does seem to be a trademark of the (mis)Administration. After having to accept what they couldn’t suppress (in this case Global Warming), they have now started spewing crap like this (c/o SpaceRef.com as I could not find the audio clip again to transcribe on NPR’s website):
“I guess I would ask which human beings - where and when - are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that’s a rather arrogant position for people to take.”
So now any one with a reasonable, rationale, scientific approach to… oh anything that opposes the edicts of (mis)Administration… is arrogant.
Well Mr. Pot, let me introduce you too…
And you can just call me Mr. Arrogant Chef!
Mmm… it blew up real good…

The Denver Post is reporting that the Army at Fort Carson is looking to aquire land in the Picket Wire Canyonland, one of the richest fossil record areas in the county. Or should I say reacquire as it was transferred to the DoE in the 90s due to it’s archeological value. So, the Army wants to take the land to use as a range. Not right, there is plenty of land in the public domain that could be used for this purpose (of course it’s just not contiguous to the Ft.
“The great thing about this site is that it’s here to see, and it’s free for the public,” said U.S. Forest Service paleontologist Bruce Schumacher, leaning against a rock after wading across the Purgatoire River - the River of Lost Souls, as French explorers first called it.
This isn’t an incidental take here school kids. Let’s hope that some reason prevails and the Army is forced to find more suitable lands.
